We are looking for a dynamic Sales Specialist in Gauteng to join our team!


About the Role

We are seeking a scientist who is eager to work in a commercial setting and values helping customers achieve optimal results in their work. The Sales Specialist role presents a unique opportunity to assist laboratory scientists and researchers by promoting our product range in Gauteng and neighbouring provinces.

If you successfully secure this position, you will have the chance to meet with customers in person throughout the Gauteng region and travel to surrounding provinces as needed. You will collaborate with a team of Sales Specialists, Product Managers, and Applications Specialists in an environment that fosters teamwork and professional development and recognizes achievements.

The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of sales and/or academic research experience in a bioscience or medical diagnostics environment and hold an MSc or PhD in a field related to molecular biology.

What you will be doing

The successful individual will be responsible for the following:
  • Establishing and maintaining excellent relationships with customers through in-person visits is a vital aspect of this role, with 3 to 4 days each week dedicated to in-field activities. As the face of our company, your ability to connect with customers will be essential to both the role and company success
  • Achieve the sales targets for the financial year within the assigned territory and product range by converting product interest and sales leads into closed deals
  • Play a key role in executing our sales strategy, which includes managing the sales territory, maximizing customer visits, closing deals, and contributing to the overall success of the company's sales efforts
  • Participate in events such as webinars, technical presentations, roadshows, workshops, and conferences

To be successful you will need

  • MSc / PhD Biological/Molecular Science
  • 2-4 years of sales experience in a bioscience or medical diagnostics sales environment or applicants with academic experience and strong potential for working in a commercial environment
  • Well-versed in library preparation and basic molecular biology applications such as nucleic acid extraction, endpoint PCR and real-time PCR. Familiarity with cell biology-related applications such as western blotting and ELISA would be advantageous
  • A genuine desire to work in a science-based sales environment
  • To be an excellent communicator and build relationships at all levels
  • Understanding of business and commercial processes
  • Valid and unendorsed Code 8 driver’s license
