We are looking for a dynamic Sales Specialist in Cape Town to join our team!
Role Summary
We are seeking a scientist who is eager to work in a commercial setting and values the importance of helping customers achieve optimal results in their work. The Sales Specialist role presents a unique opportunity to combine a passion for assisting laboratory-based scientists in selecting the best products for their application workflows while also developing essential skills for progression in a commercial environment. The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of experience in sales and/or academic research within a bioscience or medical diagnostics environment, holding an MSc or PhD in a cell biology, immunology or molecular biology-related field.
What you will be doing
- Establish and maintain excellent relationships with customers remotely and in the field
- Achievement of the sales targets for the allocated territory through growth by an agreed percentage and maintaining sales of promoted products in the territory
- Execution of sales strategy by managing the sales territory and maximising the number of calls on target customers
- Work closely with internal staff to respond to customer requests and/or to support queries requiring an advanced level of scientific input
- Monitoring sales of other products which are not actively promoted and reporting any deviations
- Support customers with requests for custom protocol development and implementation
- Participate in events such as webinars, technical presentations, roadshows, workshops and conferences
To be successful you will ideally need
- MSc or PhD in Cell Biology, Immunology or Molecular Biology Field
- 2-4 years of sales experience in a bioscience or medical diagnostics sales environment, or candidates with academic experience and strong potential for working in a commercial setting
- Skilled in cell biology applications like cell culture, ELISA, western blotting, IHC, ICC and flow cytometry. Familiarity with molecular biology techniques such as nucleic acid extraction, endpoint PCR and real-time PCR. Familiarity with NGS library preparation methods would be beneficial.
- Demonstrated understanding and aptitude for business and commercial processes
- A genuine desire to work in a science-based sales environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to develop strong customer-facing relationships
- Comfortable working with varying degrees of complexity and focusing on mid-to-long-term objectives
- Valid and unendorsed Code 8 driver's license
